Police blotters are a great read, especially from small towns. Here in New York City, the blotters are usually pretty bad, with burglaries, assaults, murders, etc. But small town blotters are usually interesting for different reasons. This particular blotter was interesting to us not only because of the man in a Bigfoot costume, but also for the child welfare story (I’m a Child Protective Specialist for the NYC Administration for Children’s Services), and the story about wedding pictures being taken on railroad tracks (our Laura Pennace is a professional wedding photographer). I guess a guy can’t walk around in public in a Bigfoot costume anymore without fear of public reprisal.
A rundown of calls that came into the O.C. Sheriff’s Department July 26-27. All incidents were reported within Laguna Niguel unless otherwise noted.
Friday, July 26:
Disturbance. 12:11 a.m. 29300 block of Avocet Lane. A caller reported that someone threw a bottle at his house. It was becoming an ongoing problem from the “party house” on the street.
Suspicious Person/Circumstances. 6:00 p.m. 27300 block of Alicia Parkway. A caller reported that a 27-year-old man was on the bench outside of Coco’s and was bothering customers. The man had dark hair and was wearing black clothes and black shoes.
Saturday, July 27:
Welfare Check. 11:08 a.m. Crown Valley/Moulton Parkways. A caller reported that a 9-month-old baby was locked in a seafoam blue Toyota Sienna. She believed the parent was inside the bagel shop.
Suspicious Person/Circumstances. 1:57 p.m. Aliso Creek/La Paz Road. A caller reported that a man was wearing a Bigfoot costume. He was wearing a greenish camouflage mask.
Disturbance. 6:17 p.m. Camino Capistrano/Avery Parkway. A caller reported that people were taking wedding pictures on the train tracks at mile marker #195.
I also love the vagueness of this blotter, especially the man who was sitting on a bench “bothering” people. What was he doing exactly to bother people? This description describes about 36% of all riders of the NYC subway…
