Miley Cyrus Stalked by Ghosts in London

May 16th, 2013 No comments

Yes, it’s another addition to the list of celebrity ghost stories. Apparently Miley Cyrus had some paranormal activity in her London apartment during her 2009 tour. I’m terrible at research, so does anyone know if she had been smoking marijuana back then? Also, this is not the first time the Cyrus family has been linked to the paranormal…or featured  on our blog (see here, here and here, where Billy Ray Cyrus was supposed to host a show on SyFy).

Miley Cyrus says she saw ghosts in her London apartment

“A ghost? That’s pretty cool!”

The 20-year-old singer and her family rented an apartment in the English capital during her 2009 European tour but they had to move to a hotel after a number of ghostly encounters.

She told British Elle magazine: “It was seriously so terrifying. One night, my little sister — it sounds crazy to tell you — but she was standing in the shower and all of a sudden, I hear her scream. I run in there and the water had somehow flipped to hot but it was still … It wasn’t like the water had just changed, the knob had turned but she hadn’t turned it and it was burning her. She was really red.

“I thought I had seen a little boy sitting on the sink watching me take a shower so I felt really freaked out. I was sitting there the next night and maybe I’m crazy, but I could have sworn I could see this little boy sitting there on the sink, kicking his feet.”

The family later discovered the apartment was reportedly haunted and Miley has vowed never to stay there again.

She said: “We found out that there was this older man that owned it [the bakery that had once been in the building] and his son lived with him there, and I guess the wife died or something, she had gotten sick.

“So it was just the son and the dad that lived there in the bakery, and then the dad died and the son took over the bakery, and I thought I was seeing the son. I’m not even kidding.

“I had to move. That’s not a lie. I will never stay there ever again.”

I think it’s safe to say that ever since Ghost Hunters came on the air, any business that can charge admission of some kind is not “reportedly haunted.” Hell, it’s an easy way to make a buck, and all you have to do is make up some cliché, non-verifiable story, and the knuckleheads will eat it up and pay $200 to get in and investigate with 150 other knuckleheads. Like, totally seriously though, old faucets and valves can move on their own if they are old, broken,, and there’s enough water pressure. Like, totally.

Billy Ray Cyrus to Host SyFy Show, Crushes the Achy Breaky Hearts of UFO Enthusiasts

September 8th, 2010 No comments

We’ve done our fair share of dissing the SyFy network around here lately, but when stories like this pop up, they just make it too easy for us to do so.  Case in point: this article I came across yesterday, reporting that Billy Ray Cyrus is going to be teaming up with his son to host a horribly-named show on SyFy.

UFO: Unbelievably Freakin' Obnoxious would have been a better title. Sidenote: oh the things that Billy Ray has done for men's hairstyles and facial hair. A true fashion icon.

Syfy is getting into the Billy Ray Cyrus business, moving into development on “UFO: Unbelievably Freakin’ Obvious,” a new reality skein in which conspiracy theories involving unexplained activity and paranormal phenomena are investigated. Cyrus and son Trace will travel cross-country and offer a skeptical solution to many of the theories. Pilot, to be produced by Peacock Prods., will be shot in a few weeks.

“The existence of paranormal phenomena is something I’ve always wanted to explore further,” Cyrus said. “Getting the opportunity to take this adventure with my son, who has always had a keen interest in this area, is a dream come true. I hope this series can shine a light on some of the activities we have questioned, and the mysteries that have long inspired us.”

Said Mark Stern, exec VP of original programming for Syfy: “Allegations of cover-up and conspiracy around unexplained phenomena has inspired heated debate for decades, and it will be interesting to see what truth Billy Ray and Trace may discover.”

Cyrus, a country music star who’s 1992 song “Achy Breaky Heart” made him a worldwide phenomenon, appeared as a contestant on “Dancing With the Stars” and hosted reality series “Nashville Star.” He also co-starred on Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” alongside his daughter, Miley Cyrus.

Billy Ray Cyrus is quite the unexplained phenomenon himself.  How in the world does he keep getting work?  And this time he’s bringing along his little-known son for the ride.  He’s not the meal ticket that Miley turned out to be, but I guess SyFy’s hoping that featuring anyone with the Cyrus family name is enough to get some ratings.  The rest of us can only hope not.

Musicians drop Roswell UFO Festival shows

June 21st, 2010 1 comment

Earlier this month, I blogged about how Roswell may be pulling the funding for its annual UFO festival. Well, I guess some of the “entertainers” who were supposed to appear at this year’s event caught wind of this and promptly pulled out. News West 9 explains:

billy ray cyrus, achy breaky heart, loser

Unsuprisingly, it was very difficult to find a picture of him without Miley in it...

ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) – Organizers of the Roswell UFO Festival say musicians Billy Ray Cyrus and Phil Vassar have canceled plans to perform this year.

Festival chairwoman Renee Roach blames recent publicity about a city decision to review the allocation of lodger’s tax funds to fund future UFO festivals.

Roach says calls have come in from all over the world. Prospective visitors are asking if this year’s event is still on.

It is. The festival runs June 30 through July 5.

Mayor Del Jurney said in May that city officials wanted to make sure the funds were being spent appropriately. Now, Jurney says he’s surprised by the reaction. He says he never told anyone the city doesn’t want to hold the festival.

The UFO Festival Committee has a $150,000 budget for this summer’s event.

Wow. Billy Ray Cyrus AND Phil Vassar. What a blow to the UFO festival. I’m sure attendees will be crushed to learn that such luminaries as Phil “Who?” Vassar and Hannah Montana’s coattail-riding dad will not be there to serenade them with awful music. I guess you’d have to be from another planet to not be sick of “Achy Breaky Heart.”
