Lakers Staying in Haunted Hotel

April 29th, 2010 No comments

Back in January I gently chided the New York Knicks for claiming that staying in a haunted hotel caused them to lose a basketball game. Well it turns out this particular hotel in Oklahoma City is scaring the Be-Jeebus out of the entire NBA!

Kobe Bryant Lakers ghost achilles

Too soon?

Allegedly men staying in the hotel have heard a woman’s voice proposition them or seen an image of a naked woman in their room. Plus there are the “normal” ghostly reports of things being moved and dressers shaking.

The stories — and the NBA players that are scared of them — have become a bit of a legend themselves around the NBA this year. A number of teams have stayed there (it is one of the nicest hotels in the area and is convenient to the arena) and a number of players have not enjoyed their stay.

Apparently, the Lakers are doing their best Ray Parker Junior “I ain’t ‘fraid of no ghosts” Immitation. If there is a ghost, Phil Jackson will just play mind games with it, or Kobe will just give it one of his angry stares and that will be that.

I think this is hilarious. I imagine 7 foot tall men are like “Not a naked woman in my hotel room!” and then going to play basketball and being really bad at it. Show me a story where my hometown Celtics are afraid of this hotel, and I’ll shut up, but until then…HAHAHAHAHA!!!! :)

Sick Dog and a Ghostly Jiggler

April 26th, 2010 No comments

Oh man! Is it October? Because it must be my BIRTHDAY. Why is that, do you ask? Well, one of my favorite blog entries ever – the police log from Montana – is back! The same police log! The same problem! Maybe there really is something strange afoot (ha ha) in Flathead County….

1:25 a.m. A resident of Poplar Drive reports that someone knocked on the door and jiggled the doorknob. Not only did authorities find no one on the premises, but they also could find no footprints near the door.

Creepy! And, as a refresher, this is the police log entry from December:

5:59 a.m. Someone on Solberg Drive heard an individual crunching in the snow outside their house, as if they were running away. Authorities found no footprints in the area.

Very interesting. A serial ghostly wannabe intruder….and, of course, I have to post some of the other entries from this log. Enjoy folks!

11:24 a.m. Authorities left a notice at the home of four loose horses on Highway 2 West.

1:56 p.m. A Somers resident claims that a friend came into his house and stole his laptop.

8:45 p.m. A border collie with a broken leg was transported to a Lakeside clinic after being hit by a car.

9:10 p.m. Someone in Lakeside called to report that their border collie was missing. It was found at a local clinic with a broken leg.

dog, laptop, police log, epic blog

It's all starting to make sense now...

Crews Report Ghostly Happenings At VA Firehouse

April 23rd, 2010 1 comment

Haunted firehouses are certainly popular. We’ve investigated an alleged haunted firehouse, and I’ve even taken a tour of the now-closed Fire Patrol No. 2 (which will most likely be torn down to make way for some sort of housing development in the near future). And this story out of Virginia is pretty tame, just a little blurb about another firehouse that may be haunted. I’ll give you three guesses as to why I chose to post this article, though (I’ll give you a hint – it’s repeated three times):

firehouse, ghostbusters, epic

There's a reason the Ghostbusters used a firehouse as their headquarters

TOMS BROOK, Va. (AP) ― Weird things happen at the Toms Brook Fire Hall.

Lights turn on and off, doors open and close, and pots and pans fly off of shelves — by themselves.

Former fire chief Richard Funkhouser says it’s all the work of a ghost that wears a floppy hat, square glasses and a riding coat.

Funkhouser and others who’ve seen the apparition call him George.

Funkhouser says sightings of George are reported at the old fire hall as well as the current one, which was built in 1983.

Members of the Virginia Independent Paranormal Society investigated the Toms Brook Fire Hall last year. Co-founder Rusty Edmondson says the group’s equipment detected images of mists, orbs and energy balls.

School bus driver discovers haunting image in photo

April 21st, 2010 No comments

I’ve mentioned before that I love these kind of stories, mostly because to me, they seem like unsolved riddles. Sure, a ghost in a photo is certainly possible, but has anyone ever actually been able to prove without a doubt that a ghost was caught on camera? No. In fact, most “ghosts” in pictures are either dust, bugs, water, dirt, or a hoax. And with that, we come to this story from Alabama:

http://www.mountaineagle.com/articleImages/resized/20100410211236_lrg.jpg

His family is so strapped for cash, they made little Noah take a job as a bus driver to help make ends meet. Tragic.

Throughout her lengthy career as a Walker County bus driver, Kathy Pate said she’s seen some interesting things, but nothing more interesting than an image that showed up in a photograph taken on her bus late last year.

Pate said during the Christmas holidays a photograph was taken of her 2-year-old grandson, Noah Pate, inside her bus.

“He loves that I’m a bus driver, and I wanted to get a good picture of him on the bus,” she said. “My daughter-in-law took a picture on her new iPhone, and we noticed something in the picture that we didn’t expect to see.”

Pate said the image of what looked like a young lady was in the photograph.

“It’s very obvious when you see it,” she said. “It looks like a young girl and she looks like she’s wearing a very old fashion dress.”

Now my first concern (besides the fact the child looks like its got some sort of tumor or wearing a giant condom on its head) is the fact that the photo was taken on an iPhone. Not exactly the best piece of equipment to capture paranormal activity. Taking into the consideration the quality of the camera on the iPhone – which isn’t bad, per se, but isn’t the best – if you look carefully at the photo, you can tell it’s a hoax. How? Look at the difference of the quality of the “ghost’s” clothing in comparison with the child’s face.

The problem is that the “ghost” is TOO clear. The ghost is clearer in the image than the child. The child’s face is clear enough, in that you can tell where her eyes and mouth and nose are, but beyond that, the details are hazy. The ghost’s clothing is very clearly marked, to the point that you can see the collar disappearing behind the neck. Why would the “ghost” be the clearest thing in this picture, when it is the only thing in the picture that is semi-transparent?

A rule of thumb I generally follow is that if anyone goes to the media with a photo of a ghost, it’s a hoax – for money, for (temporary) fame, or anything else. But the stories keep popping up, and I’m going to keep writing about them, because it gives me great pleasure.

Britain releases new UFO files

February 18th, 2010 No comments

Why isn’t the U.S. doing this? Or are they? Although I am SURE that even though Britain is releasing a new series of government files on UFOs, we are never going to see ALL the files. For all we know, these could be mostly made up, released to the public to make it seem as though the government is being open. Mmmmmmm conspiracies. Yummy.

London, England (CNN) — A hovering Toblerone and a silky-white residue join near-misses and strange lights in the British government’s latest release of its files on UFO sightings.

Made public Thursday, the files are the fifth collection of records about unidentified flying objects to be released by the Ministry of Defence and The National Archives as part of a project to open the files up to a wider audience.

Thursday’s release is the largest so far, totaling more than 6,000 pages of material from 1994 to 2000.

The files include a sighting by a man in Birmingham, England, in March 1997. He said he came home from work at 4 a.m. to see a large blue triangle-shaped craft hovering over his back garden.

It was silent but caused dogs in the neighborhood to bark, the report said. It “shot off and disappeared” after about three minutes, the report said, leaving behind a “silky-white substance” on the treetops, some of which he saved in a jar.

Hmmm. This paraticular story REALLY makes me wonder……….(insert a series of bad jokes here).
